My First MUni Ride (Tilden Park, Saturday October 8th)

Mountain unicycling (MUni) is a rapidly growing sport, and this is your chance to try it out for the first time. If you can ride on an uneven sidewalk, you can do MUni, and for simple rides like the one we'll be doing, you don't even need any special equipment; almost any unicycle will do. We recommend helmets and hand/wrist protection for all MUni rides, and shin and/or knee protection for anything difficult.

For this ride, we'll start in Berkeley's Tilden Park, near the steam trains, and ride along the ridge on fire roads with great views of San Francisco, the Golden Gate, Mount Tamalpais and Mount Diablo. Then we'll drop down towards Inspiration Point, do a little bit of single track as we drop into Wildcat Canyon, then descend until we hit Wildcat Creek. A short ride along the creek trail will bring us through a meadow and then to the end of the ride.

The distance is about five miles, and most of the ride is downhill after a paved uphill section at the very beginning. We will arrange for car shuttles so you don't have to ride back up (but you can if you want to!)

This is a great chance to get acquainted with the sport of MUni. Come join us on Saturday morning!
